In my Bible study lesson today, while discussing Ephesians 6, the question was asked: Name a few weapons you believe to be in Satan's arsenal. The thought struck me, "What are we given for protection? Our armor should tell us what we are up against."

We are to use the belt of truth - Satan lies to us.

We are to use the breastplate of righteousness - Satan tempts us to act & think unrighteously.

We are to use the readiness that comes from peace - Satan distracts us with debilitating insecurity & fears.

We are to use faith - Satan plants seeds of doubt.

We are to hold on to our salvation - Satan distracts us from knowing our victory through Christ, often through guilt and the feeling of helplessness.

We are to know the Word of God - Satan distracts us from reading, studying and memorizing the Word of God. He wants us to be too busy. He wants us to listen to the words of the world.

We are to pray, pray, pray - Satan tries to make us to feel helpless so that we don't ask He wants us to forget we have God on our side.

Ephesians 6:12-18 ~ For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms. Therefore put on the full armor of God, so that when the day of evil comes, you may be able to stand your ground, and after you have done everything, to stand.

Stand firm then, with the belt of truth buckled around your waist, with the breastplate of righteousness in place, and with your feet fitted with the readiness that comes from the gospel of peace. In addition to all this, take up the shield of faith, with which you can extinguish all the flaming arrows of the evil one. Take the helmet of salvation and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God. And pray in the Spirit on all occasions with all kinds of prayers and requests. With this in mind, be alert and always keep on praying for all the saints.
